Above is a picture of me with a Cookie Monster cupcake on which the mouth is represented by half of a chocolate chip cookie. I was absolutely thrilled by the concept of using a cookie as the mouth that I simply had to buy it and see how it tasted. I don’t remember how it tasted because it was not anything mind-blowing, but at least I have this picture to remember the event.
Anyway, now that you have context, the smiley guy in said picture is Sam Wolf, aka Wolfy (hence the title of the blog). I don’t have much cooking experience, but I do plenty of baking back home. I find it fun to put in the work and get to taste the results of getting all the measurements and instructions right. It makes me feel like a winner! As for chemistry, I was pretty good at it in high school, and I liked watching cool chemical reactions.
The reason I wanted to take this class is that I used to watch a lot of Good Eats (Alton Brown’s old show on Food Network), and it got me interested in the science of how food is made. My only expectations for this course are that I learn a lot, and have fun learning it. I am excited to get into the (no pun intended) meat of the course: learning chemistry through cooking.
I hope this post fulfills all of the requirements, and I look forward to a tasty semester!
