I’m a good egg who makes bad eggs

Author: Anna Waterhouse

Over the winter break, the wonderful man accompanying me in this photo made me many delicious egg sandwiches with perfectly done, over easy eggs.  Countless times I tried to return the favor, but each attempt came out ugly, overdone or underdone, and usually inedible.  This is a pretty good summary of my cooking skills.  I approach cooking with enthusiasm and good intentions, but I’m often unsuccessful and fear that anyone eating what I’ve made will be poisoned.

My chemistry skills are infinitely better than my cooking skills.  Even though I have no desire to pursue a career in science, I have always appreciated and enjoyed the many disciplines.  I was a decent science student in high school and I’m hoping that will transfer over into college.

I’m excited about this course!  I look forward to getting to be hands on with my learning and expand my knowledge of both cooking and chemistry.  By the end of the semester, I hope I will be able to successfully make an egg sandwich and entertain the recipient of said sandwich with my extensive knowledge regarding all of the chemistry that went into making that perfectly done egg.
