My name is Van Hoang, and welcome to my food world!
Growing up in Vietnam, and starting a new life chapter in the United States a few years ago, I am where the Eastern and Western cultures meet.
I love to talk about food. I perceive food as an art and an intimate experience more than just a hunger cure. I also enjoy cooking as I believe “the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach”
. I learn a lot through cooking, from building creativity to creating happiness. I remember my mother once said:”When you cook a meal, it means you are putting your love, and heart to the food to nourish other people”. Seeing smiles on my family members’ faces as they savor awesome bowls of Vietnamese beef noodles – that is love to me.
Besides, I am also intrigued by the chemical reactions occurring during the process of cooking, or even when I eat! I often ask myself questions like: “What happens when cheese melts?” or “Is it bad to eat egg yolk everyday as it contains 184 mg of cholesterol?”.
Chemistry is everywhere
. I think chemistry is important as everything we see, smell, touch or taste involves chemistry so why not learn more about it?
This semester at Muhlenberg College, I decided to take Kitchen Chemistry to learn as much as I can to be able to explain how ingredients interact to form food, how food changes as we cook it, or even how our bodies use the food we eat.
Coming to my page, you will experience not only food but also enhance your understanding of the science behind cooking.
Thank you all a lot visiting, and I hope you enjoy everything!
