The food product I chose is Kirkland’s Peanut Butter Filled Pretzels. I chose this product because when I am home from college, I eat a handful of these things daily. However, I have never once looked at the nutrition label to find out whether or not they were bad for me. I always just assumed they were peanut butter, pretzels, and salt and that there was not much else to them. Let’s see what can be found…
Well, I was right for the most part, although I do not really understand the difference between polyunsaturated fat and monounsaturated fat. I know poly means many and mono means one, but I do not understand how those prefixes affect the unsaturated status of the fat. Also, what are mono- and diglycerides (in the peanut butter)? I hope I can figure these things out.
